Torrevieja

 

Sunshine, Blue Skies, Palm Trees, Golden Sandy Beaches, Sparkling Mediterranean Ocean, Great food and Entertainment make Torrevieja an ideal holiday Destination

 
Its easy to travel to you can fly to either Alicante or Murcia airports and pick up the motorway direct to Torrevieja (55 minutes from Alicante or 25 Minutes Murcia) or for a more Scenic Route travel along the famous N332 Coastal Road. (similar travel times)
 
 
Torrevieja is a seaside resort which has undergone huge growth and development in recent years and now offers over 15 superb Beaches, 3 large Boat Marinas, 5 Golf Courses, 3 Water Parks, Shopping and Recreational Centers, Green areas, Parks and Superb Promenades along the Ocean Front.
  

In terms of size its over 70 square kilometers with a population in excess of 110,000 inhabitants -  50% are Spanish with the remaining 50% of mixed North European nationality (British, Scandinavia,  Ireland , Germany, French & Italian) 

 

Due to Torrevieja´s multicultural residents there is a huge selection of Cafes and Restaurants offering cuisine from every nationality. (Spanish, English, Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian , Indian, Italian, Scandinavian American, Greek, French, Mexican, Hungarian , Russian, Belgium to name a few.

 

Food and Drink prices are reasonable as is shopping in the local Supermarkets where you will find a large International selection offering products from all over Europe

   

The Night Life is great with Cafes and Bars open till late many offering entertainment most nights

For those that like to party until the early hours there are a couple of large Night Clubs (Pacha & KKO ) and  the Famous Bar Steet in Torrevieja town centre  

 

From Torrevieja to neighbouring Orihuela Costa there are over 15 different  Beaches all offering Glorious Golden Sand (no stones or pebbles!) Nearly all the Beaches have Blue Flag Status awarded for Cleaningless, Clean Waters and Facilites, many have Beach bars, Water Sports, jet ski hire, boat rides and Childrens Climbing Frames  

 

Other Family attractions include

 

  • Go Karting at Punta Prima (open all year round) its a fantastic track offering High adrenalin fun for all the family.
  • Vist the Tivoli  (Small Fun fair) in Torrevieja town centre (next to the Boat harbour) great fun for the kids and teenagers  
  • Ten Pin Bowling and Amusement park near the new Haberneras Shopping centre.
  • Large Cinema complex (many films shown in original language)
  • Visit Torrevieja´s main Water park (Aquapolis) with water slides, shoots and wave machines (open mid June to Sept) great day out for all the family or the Quesada Water park (slighty smaller but with simlar water shoots and slides, pools and green areas) . The 3rd water park (the smallest of the 3 )  is located in La Siesta 
  • Take a relaxing walk around one of Torrevieja Parks and Green zones
  • Go for a Boat Ride at the boating lake (Park of Nations) close to large Carrafour hypermarket
  • Visit the evening street market (next to the main water fountain in Torreveija Town centre ) open every night or visit the 2 large Street Markets (Torrevieja town centre every Friday or Playa Flamenca every Saturday)
  • Take a relaxing stroll along the new Ocean Front promenade  in Torrevieja Town Centre and have an Ice-cream from one of the many Ice-cream Parlors.

 

  • For the more adventurous most waster sports are available or hire a Jet ski or donut ride, try scuba diving or snorkelling or even a hire a Yacht for the day.
  •  Take a Glass Boat trip to the small Island of Tarbarca (goes most days during high season from Torreveija Harbour)  
  • Visit the large Theme parks in Benidorm such as Terramitica (Huge Theme park with all the major rides, roller coaster etc ) and the Famous Marine Animal Park at Mundomar (both are only 1 hour + 15 minutes drive from Torrevieja) Benirdorm palace (close to Mundamar offers superb night of entertainment and great food (chlidren welcome)
  •  Visit the quaint town of Guadalest (1 hour 45 minutes). (one of the largest toursit attractions in all of Spain. The famous Cities of Cartegena and Murcia are within easy reach  (approx 40 minutes drive).    

      

  • There are two zoo´s to visit "Rio Safari" in Santa Pola (approx 40 minutes drive) or Aitanna open Zoo (in land between Alicante and Benidorm (1 hour 30 mintes drive) 
  • Visit indoor Spa at Thallasea in San Pedro (20 minues drive) and relax and chill for the day or the famous mud baths at in Lo Pagan,  known for their healing properties for skin conditions and ailments such as rheumatism and arthritis
  • GOlf , choice of 5 local golf courses including champoinshiop course at Villa martin, Las ramblas, campoamor, La Marquesa and La Finca plus many more superb golf courses within 40 minutes drive
 

 

                                                  Weather Overview for Torrevieja

Summer, from June to September, is very hot with temperatures in the high 20s to low 30s throughout the season. The average high temperature peaks in August at 31°C.  July is the sunniest month with around eleven hours of sunshine per day. Rainfall is very low  . In early summer a cooling sea breeze often helps to temper the temperature and humidity can be low making the heat easier to acclimatize to. Beaches are full and sea water temperature is glorious

 Autumn in October and November, is still gorgeously warm. The average high temperature drops to 24°C in October and 20°C in November, while night times are decidedly cool at 14°C and 10°C respectively. Sunshine levels are reduced but it is still sunny for around six or seven hours per day. The sea is warm enough for swimming until the very end of the season.  However, this is the area’s rainiest season… which isn’t really saying much; the season can expect around 100 mm of rain in total. This usually falls in short, heavy outbursts, often with thunder and lightning.

 Winter, from December till February, is warm to cool with little rain. It can be overcast but the area still sees around six hours of sunshine per day which is blissful in comparison to UK´s one hour per day in December. The temperature is very susceptible to sunshine and on clear days it can get up near 20°C, though a cold wind often blows making it colder again. The average high temperature is 16°C in January which is the coldest month. Average lows around 6°C. On very sunny days there will be a small crowd on the beach but only the very brave in the sea

Spring, from March till May, is a great time to enjoy warmth without crowds. The average high temperature gets up to 19°C in March, 20°C in April and 23°C in May. Sunshine steadily increases and rain becomes even more unlikely. However, cold breezes can raise Goosebumps and night times can be fresh.  April and May are good times of year to visit; the sea is getting warmer and the sun comes out for nine hours per day and rain is very rare.

The Climate


The Costa Blanca is blessed with one of the healthiest climates in the world, according to the World Health Organisation who recognise this region as one of the healthiest on the planet.

It is said that the health and well being of people who live in hot climates are generally happier and more relaxed than those who live in cold, damp climates, such as Northern Europe.

The beautiful salt lagoons, draw moisture from the air making a unique micro climate, perfect for many ailments, including asthma, arthritis and rheumatic and bronchial conditions.

The Cost Blanca boast more than 320 days of sunshine every year, an extremely low rainfall and average temperatures of around 18 degrees.
